Nishiki Sugawara-Beda is a Dallas-based Japanese-American visual artist whose paintings and installations explore themes rooted in the relationship between land and human. By utilizing ancient and earth’s materials like Sumi ink, she connects her heritage with modern Western aesthetics. Her work is featured in the permanent collection of the Dallas Museum of Art and has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She currently is an Associate Professor and Cox Family Endowed Professor of Painting and Drawing at Southern Methodist University.
